There are a few other IID providers in Austin. However, most of the other providers are not as responsive as Smart Start. Sometimes the other providers won't send us the records, or require us to get the judge to sign an order, or put up other obstacles that make our job harder. That is why we recommend Smart Start. Their organization is reliable and easy for us to communicate with. It should be noted that not all of the Smart Start employees will necessarily be "friendly." Most are somewhat "stand-offish" (although not all). This is because they are constantly dealing with people who are annoyed that they have to get an IID. So, my advice is to be friendly and polite, and expect them to be professional but not particularly friendly. And remember, they have strict rules about what they can and can't do.
